Day 11 - California Reopening Plan - Phase 3
Sick today…
7:30 - I’m up and do not feel well. When this happens, I always think, “Uh oh - do I have Covid-19? Is it my turn?” The dog is barking so I take her out and give her cheese. She pooped next to the front door. I go back upstairs.
8:00 - L. reminds me that she and N. are going to pick up their diploma and yearbook.
10:30 - 11:30 - I try to get up but feel super fatigued and have stomach pain. I slowly drink my Hydroflask, but the stomach pain increases. I take two Advil. L. returns and goes back to bed.
11:30-12:30 - Feeling awful, I sit in the shower and drink my coffee. After 15/20 minutes, I’m able to slowly stand up and wash my hair. I listen to The Daily, Pandemic Check In, and Call Your Girlfriend. I blow dry my hair and get dressed in my Covid 19 uniform, then wipe my bathroom counters and sink and clean the floor and toilet.
12:30 - 2:00 - Still fatigued, I sit in my reading chair and finish The Couple Next Door - talk about a plot twist!! When I decide to read a Money Diary, I’m devastated to learn that the site has discontinued them, primarily in honor of Black Lives Matter. I’m truly sad about this. I start reading The Missing Teacher. I drink more coffee and eat an orange. Not hungry today.
2:00 - 3:30 - I tell L. that I’m sick and I might have Covid-19. She tells me to turn on the air conditioner and returns to her nap. I go downstairs to bring in my patio cushions as it looks like rain. Then, I water a few of my plants and try to train some vines, but ultimately give up. I go through the refrigerator and purge food, then clean the kitchen, washing and putting away dishes. I make more coffee and read The Missing Teacher.
3:30 - 6:00 - I grade an extra credit essay from one of my high school students, then scan it to her, with my comments. I also start my mandatory online trainings at College #1 where I teach - Child Abuse and Sexual Harassment (2 hours). One of my students from College #1 emails me, asking if I will be posting Semester grades soon. I posted them on 5/20/20. So, no.
-I call an Expert for my state job to make sure he got the package that I sent him and then I prepare light correspondence for another Expert package.
-I try to make an OBGYN appt. for L., but my doctor’s office says they are not seeing patients in person. I find this ridiculous, as California has entered Phase 3. They don’t care what I think.
-L. leaves and returns with Chipoltle. Then, she and R. head to the park where they watch Star Wars in R.’s car. I eat chips and queso while I do paperwork.
-I check my student email at another junior college where I’m enrolled for Summer French 02 and the professor sent a nice “letter” via email explaining that half the class time will be on Zoom and the remainder will probably be on Canvas or online in general. I was thinking about dropping because I didn’t think I had the willpower to go every day, Mon thru Thurs, from 1:30-4:00, but he sounds friendly and nice. The only problem is we have to show our faces when we Zoom in, so I will have to put on a full face of make-up every day so as not to look like a thumb on Zoom. The class starts on 6/15/20 - I’m on the fence about it…
-I prepare my flash cards for my French Final this Wed. I put the author and the name of the text on each card - I’ll fill in the details/content for each text/piece over the coming days. I listen to The Political Gabfest, Skimm This, and Start Here.
-I download the pictures I took from Descanso Gardens on Wed.
7:00-8:00 - I read online news.
8:00-10:00 - L.’s Dad calls (my ex) and we catch up and discuss L., like dentist and doctor visits, high school, college, our up-coming Sedona trip, etc. He complains that L. didn’t screen shot her diploma to him and I make a note to make sure she does. He’s not very happy that she let her French grade slip to a B… oops, maybe I shouldn’t have told him.
10:30 - L.’s home and R. plays with the dog in the garage. They’re friends now. Time to watch Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich. Today largely sucked.
