L. and I had dinner at The Little Door tonight…

9/11/21. Saturday

8:00 - L. leaves for her shift at the Art Studio.

9:30- 10:00 - Awake and I go downstairs to say good morning to the dog. She’s awake, too, so she grabs her toy and we go outside. I watered everything last night so there is nothing to do except wait for her to finish going potty.  I still have the same burning sensation coming from the shingles site…I’m not sure the Neosporin-Band-aid treatment is working.

Return inside and I make coffee and give the dog cheese. I go upstairs.

10:00-11:00 – Shower. Lotion. I listen to The Productive Woman. I put on a tank top and long skirt because skirts are more comfortable against the lesions. Light make-up. I put Neosporin on my sores and cover them with band-aids.

11:00-11:30 – B. and Gustavo arrive so Gus can take a look at the door project that I just cannot get off the ground. B. brings coffee and Gus takes measurements before announcing that HE can’t hang the doors, but he knows a friend who can probably do it. Good news! Gus leaves.

11:30–2:30 - We have coffee and B. has three Crispy Cremes to my one. We talk politics downstairs in the kitchen, before moving upstairs and continuing our conversation, where I have two fans going. It is so hot today. B. leaves.

2:30-3:30 – I have a slice of deli turkey rolled up in a piece of Romaine lettuce, with cottage cheese and tomato, and read Work Won’t Love You Back.

3:30-4:00 – I touch up my make-up and have a glass of champagne while listening to Be Wealthy and Smart.

4:00-4:30 – L. returns from work, changes, and we leave for The Little Door restaurant, in Santa Monica.

4:30-5:30 – Driving.  L. tells me about her day and I set up the newest episode of Spooked so she can listen to it.

5:30 – 9:00 - Arrive at The Little Door!! I really love this restaurant. L. and I walk through an actual little door and emerge into an open space, similar to a fairy-tale forest, with twinkling white lights in the branches of several trees and blue awnings over open cutouts in the mesh ceiling where plants and leaves are coming through. L. orders a cheese plate appetizer (typical) and various mocktails and I have an excellent glass of Brut champagne.

I order Branzino, the special.  This is European Bass and I didn’t realize the chef would plate the entire fish, complete with the head still attached; HOWEVER, it’s excellent and stuffed with citrus-infused cabbage and a chickpea salad. Once I get past the fact that there’s a fish head on my plate, I’m able to enjoy the meal. L. gets…something??? Although I eat until I’m full, the bass is so huge there are a ton of leftovers to take home. Shockingly, L. foregoes dessert and we leave shortly thereafter. I will say the service was on the slow side, but I enjoyed the meal quite a bit.

9:00-10:00 –Driving.  L. and I listen to another Spooked episode.

10:00-12:00 – Home and I catch up on blog posts; then

12:00-12:30 – upload my posts to my square space page.

12:30-1:30 – I knew before I left for dinner tonight that I was going to take the day off from working out. Nighttime routine and I go to bed at a relatively decent hour tonight. I remove all of my band-aids, wash the Shingles sites with antibacterial soap and lie on my side in front of the fan in the hopes that the lesions will dry.  I’m over the Neosporin treatment – it’s not working for me.
