Day 20 - Mask mandate RESCINDED. We do NOT need to wear masks.
3/23/22. Wednesday
8:00-8:30 – I’m up so I go downstairs to greet the animal. She’s awake and at the foot of the stairs, but as soon as she sees me, she vomits (sigh). As she gets ready to vomit a second time, I quickly pick her up and lock her outside, in the backyard, where she vomits again, on the patio. After a few minutes, I go outside, too, and wait for her to go potty. Return inside and coffee for me; cheese for her. I clean up the vomit and go upstairs.
-I check my phone and see that B. has invited me over for patio coffee at 11:00
8:30-9:45 – I have some admin. work to do for College No. 2 so I go to work.
-A student emailed me his answers to 3 quizzes that I emailed to him a couple days ago, so I grade the quizzes and post the scores to the online gradebook.
-I email two quizzes to another highschooler.
-College No. 2’s secretary sends me a new contract to sign because they added the accelerated 8-week class to my schedule [beginning 4/16/22], so I sign, scan, and email it back to her.
-The Canvas shell is already up for my new 8-week class. I “course-copy” one of my previous classes into the shell, but I don’t think the previous class is an 8-week template. In fact, I’m not even sure I have an 8-week template. I research some of my older syllabi, looking for a perfect fit, but there is none. It looks like this class will have to be built largely from scratch. great.
9:45-11:00 – Shower. I sit in the shower, drink my coffee, and ice my eyes, while listening to The Daily. Lotion. I wear an “Athletic Housewife” uniform. Light make-up. I leave for B.’s house.
11:00-2:30 – I drive to B.’s and we have donuts and coffee and talk politics. We sit inside because his gardeners are here. I leave.
2:30-3:00-Driving. I listen to By the Book.
3:00-4:30-Home. I make brown rice and add canned corn and peas. Then, I add that to the barbecued chicken I made in the crock pot the other day. I separate the portions, freeze two meals, then Tupperware the other portions for the coming week. L. recommended a podcast called Conviction, but I accidentally download the wrong one – Convicted – and listen to that, which is just as good, per L.’s description of her podcast. I have some cheese and crackers while I meal prep. Kitchen duty. Then, I pack my lunch bag and ready my coffee for tomorrow. I listen to True Crime Garage.
4:30-5:30 – I read the Nature Fix – recall that it’s a Bookclub pick – and have a few more pieces of barbecued chicken.
5:30-7:30 – Blog post. I listen to Air Talk.
8:00-10:30 – I log my receipts into my budget spreadsheet and delete more personal emails, while Organized Money videos play in the background.
-I check emails at College No. 2
10:30-11:30 – I spend this time revising the Syllabus to accommodate the fact that I will not be at the Charter High School on Tuesday, 3/29/22, because that’s the first day the “City” hiking group meets for the spring quarter.
-I update the next three Modules and change due dates for the assignments, because I had to switch the content. I had a Netflix documentary scheduled for 3/29/22, but this highschool has a firewall against Netflix and teachers can’t access it. I move things around and change that day to an audio lecture instead. Then, I post the new Syllabus.
11:30-12:15 – Nighttime routine. I set my Filoflex folder on the counter and lay out my clothes. I set my alarm for 5:00.
12:15-12:40-I listen to podcasts and have difficulty falling asleep.
