Day 21 - Governor Newsom reinstates the mask mandate in California

The Omicron Chronicles…still sick and I’ve lost my voice.

1/5/22. Wednesday

8:00 – I wake up with a headache [another Omicron symptom]. I take two Advil and go back to sleep.

11:00-11:30 – There might be something to the “Covid Crash.”  Today, I’ve lost my voice and my chest is packed with phlegm. I start a load of laundry and go downstairs to say good morning to the animal. We go outside and I sit at the patio table, because I don’t have the energy to stand, while I wait for the dog to go potty. Return inside and I give the dog turkey and make a cup of coffee.

11:30-12:15 – Bullet journal and I text my Mom.

12:15-1:45 – I take a shower and, finally, wash my hair. I sit in the shower, lean my head against the tiles, and drink water. I listen to Happier.  Lotion. Covid-19 uniform.

1:45-3:00 – I braid my hair and read Everything I Have.

3:00-3:30 – I eat a few bites of B.’s chicken soup and have more explosive diarrhea. I give the soup to the dog.

3:30 -6:30 – I have two Monday classes that are actually going to run…in SIX days!  I create the Syllabi for both classes, using my netbook, while sitting in my chair, in my bedroom, and taking multiple breaks. My eyes ache and I have a headache by the time I’m finished. More Advil.

6:30-7:00 – Somehow, I’m able to drag myself outside and take the dog for a walk. I feel better in the fresh air.

7:30-8:30 – I decide to try an Insanity workout because if I can get through it, surely it means I’m not going to die. More magical thinking… I go with the easier Month #1, although that’s debatable because both Months in the series are very difficult.  I switch to the “Modifier” a few times, but I make it through, even though I’m exhausted by the end and can barely stand.

-B. calls but I can only talk to him for about 2 minutes because I’ve lost my voice and it’s too difficult to speak.

-8:30-9:00 – I have the last of my leftovers from The Junction on 12/31/21. This equates to two spoonfuls of penne pasta.

10:00-1:00 – I upload three blog posts, then set up my Core Class and Specialty Class 1B on Canvas. I created Specialty Class 1B before I received my extensive DE training…as a result, most of the Modules for Specialty Class 1B will have to be rebuilt, unfortunately.

1:00-1:30 – It’s L.’s birthday tomorrow, so I write a heartfelt message on a piece of paper and insert it into the card I bought for her last week, then shove it under her door.

1:30-2:00 – I ready my coffee and pack a lunch bag for tomorrow.

2:00-2:30 – Nighttime routine. Bed. I set my alarm for 6:15.
