Day 24 - LA County Dept. of Health mandates indoor masking

Another work day…

Another work day…

8/9/21.  Monday

9:00 – Up, but I need transition time so I lie in bed for another 30 minutes.

9:30-10:00 – I go downstairs to say good morning to the dog, but she’s still asleep on the couch. I rub her tummy three times and then note that she pooped in front of the door. She grabs her toy and we go outside, where I stand around, waiting for her to go potty. I water my potted Jasmine plants and the hanging Vinca while I wait, then we return inside. I think it’s already 90 degrees. I give the dog cheese and clean up the dog poop.  Then, I make my coffee and clean the kitchen. I listen to The Daily.

10:00-11:00 – This is the last week of my Summer session class. I post today’s content, update the Announcement on my Canvas Home Page to tell the students to complete the Final on Thursday, NOT Sunday, and send an email blast to the students reminding them that their assignments also have to be completed by Thursday because the semester is officially over on Thursday.

11:00-12:30 – I make one piece of toast with regular butter and almond butter and read All You Can Ever Know.

12:30-2:00 – L. is going to take a few items to sell on consignment but she always gives me first dibs so I try on everything to see what fits. I take a pair of jeans and a great pair of Lulu Lemon shorts! Then, I pack my beach bag and work on a blog post.

2:00-2:30 – I post my entries to the blog.

2:30-4:00 – Shower. Spa day. Wash and condition hair, then blow dry. Light make-up. I listen to What a Day and What Next.

4:30-6:00 – I phone in an order for two teriyaki bowls at Teriyaki Madness – one orange chicken bowl and one fried tofu bowl – and leave to pick them up. It’s over 100 degrees out and so miserable. When I get home, I eat the orange chicken bowl and read a Money Diary.

6:00-8:00 – Its sooo hot and I’m not feeling well, so I take a nap. I’ve been anxious ever since B. and I went to the indoor concert on Saturday.  After reading/listening to more information on Delta, what the hell was I thinking going to a crowded, indoor concert and not masking?  I have a slight nasal drip…but maybe it’s allergies?  I read that Delta’s initial symptoms consist of a runny nose, fatigue, fever…basically, the symptoms of a sinus infection…so, without a test, how do we know if we’ve been infected?

8:00-8:30 – I take the dog for a walk; then

8:30-9:30 – I water my plants.

9:30 – 10:30 – I finally caught my second wind and feel energetic enough to record the Audio Syllabus for Specialty Class 1A.

10:30-12:00 – The Canvas shell for this class needs an update. I create Home Pages for each week of content for the first seven weeks of the semester.

12:00-12:30 – I break and meet with L. so she can air drop the Audio Syllabus for Specialty Class 1A and my Core Class into the Canvas shells.  Then, she emails them to me.

12:00-2:00 – I continue updating the Canvas shell for Specialty Class 1A. I create opening, introductory paragraphs for six chapter review quizzes and set the correct due dates in conjunction with the Syllabus. Then, I do the same thing for six video/podcast quizzes, making sure to insert the new due dates for these exams, too.

I course copied this shell from last year’s Specialty Class 1A and, for whatever reason, I recorded weekly PSAs for the students.  I listen to the first six PSAs to see if they’re relevant and end up deleting two.

I still have several more weeks to clean up inside the Canvas shell but, for now, they’re ‘unpublished’ and invisible to the students. The class is ready to go, so I prepare a “Welcome” email, attach the Syllabus and the AUDIO Syllabus, and hit send. Specialty Class 1A is up and running.

2:30-3:30 – I do a 40-minute Insanity – Cardio Power and Resistance workout.

3:30-4:30 – Nighttime routine. Bed. I set my alarm for 8:00 a.m.
