Day 25 - CDC recommends all J&J patients get a booster after 2 months

My DIY chain-curtain divider project is coming along…

11/14/21. Sunday

9:00 – I’m up so I go downstairs to say good morning to the dog. She’s still sleeping so I sit next to her and rub her tummy until she’s awake. I cue her to go outside and she jumps down, grabs her toy, and we head to the backyard. I note that she pooped in two places on the patio (sigh). Return inside and coffee for me; cheese for her.  I go upstairs.

9:30-11:00 – Blog posts.

In the midst of writing blog posts, L. asks me to read a poem and interpret it for a photography assignment because she has “artist’s block” and doesn’t have any ideas.  The name of the poem is Power by Bell Hooks. The narrator is the mother and the poem is  about the death of her child at the hands of police brutality. Instantly, I have the idea that L. should go to the nearest cemetery and take black and white photographs of the headstones of children, adding tones of sepia, pink, and green. This is going to be a great project! See?  I’m creative, too. I share my idea with L.

L. leaves for her lesson with her private art student. After her “private” [that’s how art studio staff refer to private lessons], she will report to the Art Studio for the next 6 hours.

11:00-11:30 – I upload my blog posts.

11:30-1:00 – I continue working on my Self-Eval for College No. 1. For this section, I compile all books, podcasts, and documentaries that I read/listened/watched from 2019-2022 in order to demonstrate “my commitment to diversity”, which is one of the sections on the eval.

-I check email at College No. 1 and am shocked to see that my Evaluator is asking for my Self-Eval on Tuesday, three days before Friday, the agreed-upon date. I immediately respond that we had agreed on Friday as the final day of submission.  What is he talking about?

1:00-3:00 – Return upstairs and continue cross-referencing “diversity” documentaries and podcasts for my Self-Eval.

3:00-3:30 – I have two pieces of gluten-free toast with cinnamon-almond butter and raspberry jam and eat over the kitchen sink; then

3:30-4:00 – I unload the dishwasher and wash a few dishes.

4:15-4:45 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform.

4:45-5:00 – I assemble the stick-on lights that I bought for L.’s bedroom cubbies and install ONE in place to see if L. approves, before I install the remaining two.

5:00-5:30 – L. returns home and we debrief about her day.  I show her the light I installed and she approves so I give her the other two. They’re stick-on so I think she can do it.

6:00-6:30 – I take the dog for a walk.

6:30-7:30 – The portable sink I purchased for the garage conversion arrived yesterday so I spend the next hour breaking down the huge cardboard box it came in.

7:30-9:00 – I’m still not finished, but I need a break from this tedious task so I start my DIY chain-divider project. I unroll the spools of chain, measure them out, then cut them to size with my mini bolt cutters. Once that’s done, I hang each individual chain by a nail that I hammered into the soffit. This is extremely time-consuming and I am up and down the ladder, but the individual strands of chain are slowly starting to resemble a chain-curtain divider.   Based on the measurements for this space, one spool yields about 9 individual strands of chain – it’s obvious I will need more spools to achieve my “vision”, but it still comes out cheaper than buying one of the bead curtains I saw online. This is a dirty project and my hands are covered in grime and aluminum chips, but I’m finished for now because I’m out of chain.

9:00-9:45 – Back to the sink box and I’m still working on breaking down the cardboard, it was packed it so tight. The sink finally breaks free and I wheel it to the side of the garage. I’m out of money for this garage reno so will not be calling Gil, the plumber to set it up.  I’ll have to figure it out on my own.

I take my trash cans to the curb.

9:45-10:30 – I make a spinach salad and add eggs, tuna, tomatoes, cheese, and carrots; then

10:30-11:30 – take it upstairs and work on bullet journals over the last three days while I eat.

11:30-12:15 – I accidentally fall asleep.

12:15-2:30 – Continue with bullet journals.

2:30-5:00 – I resume working on my self-eval because I know I’m going to have to submit it on Tuesday. Damn!

5:30-6:00 – Nighttime routine. Bed.
