Day 27 - LA County moves into yellow tier
Not the exact table, but you get the idea…
5/29/21. Saturday.
10:30 – Up and I go downstairs to greet the animal. She’s awake and waiting for me at the foot of the stairs. She rolls over on her back so I can rub her tummy three times, then grabs her toy, and we go outside. She goes potty and we return inside: salmon salad for her – coffee for me. I go upstairs. I forget to check weight.
11:00-2:00 – Blog posts.
2:00-3:00 – I have a slice of quiche and read What We Carry. I actually like the quiche – usually I hate what I cook, but this holds up.
3:00-3:45 – I do an Insanity Core Cardio and Recovery workout.
3:45-5:30 – Shower. Lotion. Jeans and a gray button-up shirt that L. gave me. Make-up. I take out my braids. I listen to the BBC World Service and PBS Newshour.
5:45 – 6:30 - L. arrives and begins making her famous pineapple-jalapeno Margarita mix. I cut up a pineapple and provide help where needed, then chop a few of the pineapple slices into garnishes. We decide to bring along sliced jalapenos for muddling and add lime juice and Tahine to the bag.
6:30-7:00 - L. and I leave for a party at J.’s house. J. is B.’s neighbor, who lives across the street.
Driving.
7:00 – 11:30 - L. and I arrive at J.’s house. He installed a fully-stocked bar in his front room – complete with marble counter tops – and it looks incredible! The backyard is also fabulous! It’s been freshly landscaped and J. replaced the patio/gazebo after he discovered termites with an aluminum alternative that looks exactly like wood! I would have never known the difference if B. hadn’t pointed it out to me.
The party-goers: B., me, L., J (the neighbor), his granddaughter (a 23-year-old aesthetician who is super cool and nice – she does all the grilling), J and R. It’s a Mexican-food menu: rice, beans, this amazing squash dish, and grilled chicken and beef. We all eat around a huge dining room table. The food is so good!!! and we have flan for dessert. L. makes margarita after margarita for the party-goers and her mix is a big hit. I drink champagne throughout the night (3/4 glasses) and end the evening with one of L.’s margaritas (I add just a splash of tequila - not an entire shot) so I can see what it tastes like with alcohol.
It finally feels like Covid-19 has disappeared. For once, I’m in a room with people and NOT thinking about the ventilation or air quality – it simply never occurs to me until L. and I are driving home. Maybe things really can return to normal…maybe I really can adapt…
The conversation is great - J. is super funny – and, of course, it’s always great when J. and R. are at an event. I have a wonderful time!
11:30 – 12:00 - L. and I leave.
Driving.
12:00-2:30 - Home and I take the dog out, then set the alarm. I go upstairs, thinking I’ll get some reading done, but accidentally fall asleep while I’m reading. I wake up TWO hours later – how stupid! – I hate when I do that.
2:30-3:15 – Nighttime routine. Bed. Great day!
