Day 39-Governor Newsom reinstates the mask mandate in California
1/23/22. Sunday
I wake up around 8:00 with a headache so I take two Advil and listen to Organize 365 until I fall back asleep.
10:30-11:00 – I go downstairs to say good morning to the dog. She’s still asleep, on the couch, on top of her little blanket. She rolls over on her back when she sees me so I sit next to her and rub her tummy until she’s ready to go outside. After awhile, she grabs her tennis ball and we head to the backyard – I note that she pooped on the patio (sigh). I stand around until she does her business and we go inside: turkey for her, coffee for me.
11:00-3:00 – I go to work. The dog follows me into my office and sits in my chair with me, squeezing in between my back and the back of the chair.
-L. leaves for work at the Art Studio.
-I continue gutting the Canvas shell and redesigning the Modules to represent the new 9th edition. I work on reorganizing the Modules in conjunction with the Syllabus I just finished designing and listen to more of my pre-recorded lectures. Here’s a cut-and-paste blurb from two days ago: “I’m listening to my own lectures, on double speed, so I can flag the outdated content and forward it to L. for edits. Listening to my own lectures that I’ve been giving for years is so boring…but some of the lectures [recorded in 2021] contain outdated Covid references that need to be erased.”
-I’m able to make it through 4 lectures and I take notes along the way, so L. will know where to splice-and-dice. All of this is sooo confusing. What used to be Chapter 6 is now 12 pages under Chapter 4. These particular pages are important and I want to continue highlighting this mini-section as it’s own separate unit, even though the publisher moved these pages to Chapter 4. I designate this new section as Chapter 4 Subset #1 and Chapter 4 Subset #2.
-I update most of the Discussion Board prompts; then
-Add “intros” to the Chapter Review quizzes and Video Quizzes.
-I record 4 PSAs, email them to myself, then open them in the “Download” file and, finally, drop them in the Canvas shell.
3:00-3:30 – I should probably get dressed. Wash face, brush hair and teeth, put on my Covid-19 uniform…
3:30-4:00 – I take the dog for a walk then put my trash cans out.
4:00-6:00 – I get gas then go to Starbucks for a peppermint hot chocolate from my pre-loaded Starbucks card.. I read Friendshipping in the parking lot. I binge listen to Someone Knows Something – The Next Call while I run errands.
-To BevMo and I take advantage of their BOGO for a Nickel ($.05) Sale and I also buy cheese.
-I stop by the ATM and pull out cash for gas this week.
6:00-6:30 – Return home and L. and T. are here, but leave almost immediately for Pink Berry in Burbank. They went to Goat Yoga this morning so I asked them how it went – they both liked it!
6:30-10:00 – I spend this time gardening and listening to Someone Knows Something – The Next Call. I don’t recall leaves falling this time last year, but the patio and yard are covered in leaves. I sweep the leaves and spend a good portion of the time cleaning the leaves out of the beds and pots and trimming leaves. Finally, I water my plants.
10:00-11:00 – Kitchen duty and I pack a lunch bag and ready my coffee for tomorrow. I also boil some eggs for the coming week. I listen to Crime Junkie.
11:00-12:00 – I listen to more of my pre-recorded Audio Lectures while I check email at both colleges. An email pops up at College No. 2, informing me that I need to complete an online Sexual Harassment training within the next 30 days. I log in, start the webinar, and keep it running in the background until it ends.
12:00-12:30 – I lay my clothes out.
12:30-1:30 – I accidentally fall asleep.
2:00-3:30 – I’m awake again and I spend this time finishing Friendshipping in preparation for Bookclub tomorrow. I’ll provide a review after I hear from the other people at Bookclub.
3:30-4:00 – I do a 15-minute Insanity Max – Ab workout. This is all I can muster…almost all of my energy is depleted. Long Covid?
4:0-4:30 – Nighttime routine. Bed.
