Day 4 - California Reopening Plan - Phase 2.5 for LA County
7:00 - 8:00 -Up and ready for the plumber, should he choose to arrive at this time. I take the dog out. Cheese. I make sure that I drink my entire Hydroflask today - I think I’ve been skimping on my water. I get dressed in my Covid-19 uniform and sit outside with my phone, waiting for the plumber to call me for the gate code.
8:30 - 9:00 - Plumber arrives but he said he won’t fix the leak in the downstairs tub because it’s dry now. Although I explained it’s an intermittent problem, he doesn’t care. I wake up L. and she exits her bathroom. The plumber pulls a hairball out of her drain and leaves. This 10-minute exchange cost me $75 through my home warranty plan.
9:00-10:30 - I wipe down all the door knobs that the plumber touched because he’s not wearing gloves. I feel a little depressed today so compensate by having some toast, using L.’s bread from 85c Degrees, and slathering it with butter and almond butter. Last night, I had a miniature baked potato, smothered in butter. Can you tell I’m out of control with the carbs? I feel better after eating my toast.
11:00 - 11:30 - L. leaves. She and R. have quite a day planned. They are going to Ojai and will hike the Lucy Trailhead at the Valley View Preserve, to be followed by a trek to Camarillo for Thai food. While in Ojai, they will eat at The Farmer and the Cook and get smoothies at True Blend. R. planned the date and it sounds really fun! I tell L. that California is in Phase 3 and it’s likely they will be allowed to sit down at one of these restaurants because they are not located in LA County. Spoiler Alert - they actually dine al fresco at Siam Elephant, a Thai food restaurant, in Camarillo. This city is located in Santa Barbara County, NOT LA County.
11:30 - 1:30 - I email my high school students and remind them that the Final is this Tuesday. I also attach the “Final Review” to the email, and post everything as an Announcement to Canvas. I work on “pharmacy audits” [see Day 1, Phase 3 of my blog] for my state job.
1:30-3:30 - I take a break to have some chicken and pasta, while I watch the last two episodes of Bosch, Season 6. This might have been the best season ever.
3:30-5:30 - I continue with “pharmacy audits” [see Day 1, Phase 3 of my blog] for my state job. I’m lonely today.
5:30-6:30 - I go for a bike ride. I think I found the paseo that leads to Magic Mountain and biked pretty far today.
6:30-7:00 - I read two Money Diaries.
7:00-9:30 - I finish the “pharmacy audits.” When all is said and done, I prepared requests for 7 different pharmacies, totaling 429 individual prescriptions, involving five patients. It was several hours of work spanning a 3-day period. None of them will be used in my investigation. I also prepare a Report of Investigation for disposition, checking for typos and editing. I finish everything. I think this was the last, large task of my job before I retire in August. I have a glass of champagne.
9:30 - L. has been texting me throughout the day and she and R. made it back to Valencia in one piece. They’re now at the lake (across the street from my neighborhood). I shut my office down - I’m done working today. L. said Descanso Gardens is open, so maybe I’ll go there tomorrow.
