Day 58 - Governor Newsom reinstates the mask mandate in California

Errand Day…

2/11/22. Friday

8:00-8:30 – My alarm goes off and my body aches. I take two Advil. It’s obvious I have pink eye – my eye is red and hurts - so I take some old prescription eyedrops I’ve got lying around. The eyedrops help.

8:30-8:45 – I go downstairs to say good morning to the animal. She’s still asleep on the couch so I sit next to her and rub her tummy until she’s ready to go outside. She grabs her toy and we head to the patio, where I wait for her to go potty. She does her business and we return inside: cheese for her and coffee for me. I go upstairs and try on a few items in accordance with my Curated Closet project.

8:45-9:30 – Shower. I sit in the shower, lie back against the tiles, and place a bag of ice over my eyes. I listen to The Daily. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. Light make-up. I listen to What a Day.

9:40-10:00 – Driving

10:00-10:30 – Therapy. Good session.

10:30-11:00 – Errand Day. Driving. I listen to Martinis and Your Money.

11:00-11:30 – Drive-thru car wash. I eat the last of my pork and rice dish in the car and listen to The NY Times Book Review.

11:30-12:00 – I return four items to Walmart.

I’m scheduled to teach high school students next week and desperately need to know if I had Omicron in January. If I didn’t, I’ll get the booster ASAP. I call my doctor’s office and ask to schedule an antibody test – they inform me that they don’t do antibody tests and will not provide a referral for a doctor who does. Am I really supposed to believe this? A medical group that refuses to perform an antibody test? I text B. for a referral and he tells me to try Dr. Jenkins.

12:00-12:45 – Home Depot and I listen to What Next.

-I bought L. a Caraway pots and pan set for Xmas and it came with a lid holder that I hung on the wall as soon as L. unwrapped her gift.  The “lid holder” was an artfully designed burlap sack that held the lids in slits, or pockets, vertically, one on top of the other, using “3M” anchors. Unfortunately, the burlap sack fell off the wall with a terrific crash 30 days out. The dog and I both heard the commotion and she ran behind me, she was so scared. I was certain the Caraway lids were damaged, chipped, or broken, but they remained intact, which is a testament to the brand. So now I need to mount the lid holder with a more permanent solution so I find some decorative screws at Home Depot.

-I buy a plant for one of the pots in my backyard.

-My mailbox numbers are faded to such a degree that I need to purchase new numbers and apply them myself. I buy some mailbox numbers, but discover later that they’re too big and need to be returned.

12:45-1:15 – Home and I hammer/twist in the new screws I purchased for the lid project. It’s not working – the holes in the dry wall keep getting bigger and bigger and won’t support the screws. I need to brainstorm some solutions…

-I eat the last of my taquitos from yesterday’s Bookclub Brunch.

1:15-1:30 – I drive to my dentist appointment.

1:30-2:30- At the dentist and THREE of my teeth are bonded. This involves two shots of anesthetic and is quite traumatic…I can hear the grinding throughout and I just want the procedure to end.

2:30-3:00 – Traumatized, I drive home and;

3:00-5:00 – take a nap.

5:00-5:30 – Up and I check store hours for Joann’s Fabrics; then

-after significant brainstorming, I put the decorative screws I purchased into the holes I made for L.’s lid hanger and shoot the holes with super glue.

5:30-6:30 – Kitchen duty. I ready my coffee, make overnight oats, and fill the dog food and water dispensers.

6:30-7:15 – I drive to Joanns and buy buttons for my vintage skirt. I also buy peanut butter M&Ms as an impulse buy. Staff are masked and the store is empty. I listen to Filmweek.

7:15-7:30 – I return my library book.

7:30-8:00 – I drive to the 99 cent Store and buy a V-day card for B.

8:00-8:30 – Drive home.

9:00-12:00 – I listen to Audio Lecture Chapter 9, 11, and 14 for Specialty Class 1B. The Chapter 9 Lecture needs multiple edits. I also review the slides to make sure the content is still relevant.

-I continue purging papers from my filing cabinet and hole-punching invoices for the new binders I created in accordance with The Paper Project. I’m almost finished with this project.

12:00-1:00 – I take the dog out and lock up. Then, I lay my clothes out for tomorrow. Nighttime routine. Bed
