Day 1 - the WHO names Omicron a “variant of concern”

Thanksgiving!!! The food is incredible!!! Thanks Mom and Dad

Scientists in South Africa announce that they’ve detected a new variant of the Corona virus named Omicron. Today, the World Health Organization names B11529 [Omicron] as a “variant of concern.” As of Sunday, cases were identified in a dozen countries but NOT the US thus far…because we don’t f—king test…we never have.  I’ve said this in previous blog posts…this Greek alphabet system is so stupid.  The WHO implemented it in order to avoid stigmatizing countries where new variants are found so now we have…Omicron…from South Africa. Similar to Delta…from India. How’s that de-stigmatization working for you? Almost immediately, the Biden Administration banned South Africans and residents from any/all African countries within the continent from traveling to the United States, thereby punishing the very scientists who alerted us to Omicron. There. That should do it - we’ve successfully sealed our borders [insert sarcasm emoji here].

Uh…the new variant is already here.  Why do you think California cases started rising in November? San Francisco is on it when it comes to tracking this shit, largely due to the residual PTSD this city is still suffering from after they became an HIV hotbed in the 80s. If you want to know the state of the pandemic, look to San Francisco for data. And what do we find? Covid cases began spiking in November…just in time for Thanksgiving, when we gather together for turkey, mashed potatoes, and a big hot serving of Omicron.  Not to worry, though…TSA at LAX could care less about BLM and is hard at work keeping us safe by prohibiting all black people from setting foot in the Golden State on account of they might be from Africa.  Good ol’ racism… keepin’ us safe from Omicron. Gotta love it.

 11/25/21. Thursday. Thanksgiving.

8:30-9:00 – I’m up so I go downstairs to say good morning to the animal. It’s Thanksgiving and I’m not pressed for time so I sit next to the dog and she climbs into my lap for kisses and cuddles. I spend time petting her until she’s finally ready to go outside. She grabs her toy and we head to the backyard. I stand around, waiting for her to finish her business. Return inside: coffee for me; cheese for her. I go upstairs.

9:00-11:00 – I grade one Socratic Seminar paper and one extra credit essay.

11:00-12:00- I finish Boundaries

12:00-1:00 – I take out my braids

1:30-3:00 – bullet journal.

3:00-4:45 – Shower. Lotion. I put on a sweater and jeans. Full make-up.

4:45-6:00 – B. arrives to pick L. and I up and we drive to my parents’ house.

6:00-10:00 – Mom and Dad put on a wonderful spread!! B.’s daughter, J., and her husband, R., are also here. And then there’s my brother, his wife, and my nephew. We have not had Xmas or Thanksgiving dinner together in two years and it’s a great time. L. and I commit to hosting Xmas dinner in my “converted art studio” aka the garage. I’m pretty jazzed about it!

10:00-11:00 – B., L., and I leave. I fall asleep in the car.

11:00-1:00 – L. leaves for her boyfriend’s house and I take a short nap. After, I take the dog outside and lock up.

2:00-2:30 – Nighttime routine. Bed. A fun day!
