Day 35 - CDC recommends all J&J patients get a booster after 2 months

Alone at the dog park…

11/24/21. Wednesday

8:00 - L. is teaching an Art Camp this week instead of attending Otis.

7:45-8:00 – Course content for my highschoolers isn’t ready, including the Module Home Page and the Discussion Board prompt, so I’m up early to create those items. I go downstairs to say good morning to the animal and she’s still asleep on the couch.  I sit next to her and rub her tummy three times, but she still won’t get up. I grab her toy, slowly touch her face with the stuffed animal, and cue her to go outside. She grabs the toy and we head outside - I check my plants while she goes potty. Return inside and I make a cup of coffee and give the dog sugar cookie pieces.

8:00-9:00 – I start working on the new course content and my two favorite students email me to say class is ending early because [insert religious ceremony here]. Since it’s a short day AND tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I go easy on the students and tell them to simply write “Here” on the Discussion Board; they don’t have to answer a prompt. Today’s agenda is a lecture and a podcast and this lecture is a continuation of Friday’s lecture, so I copy and paste last week’s Home Page into this Module.

9:00-10:00 – A student from my Asynchronous class at College No. 2 emails me asking when his extra credit assignment will be returned. Uh, you’ll get it when I grade it…it hasn’t even been a week yet. Because there’s a paper trail now, I grade his extra credit essay within the hour, post his grade, and return his paper with my edits. I respond to his email without referencing specific times and dates, saying, “Your grade was posted to the online grade book and your paper was returned.” His paper is so poorly written, he gets an 8 out of 20.

10:00-1:00 – I have six more extra credit essay assignments to grade and I get started on those.  I take interim breaks and work on Life Admin.  It looks like this:

-I order a few items in anticipation of my 2022 resolutions to include a pamphlet for bird watching, a monocular (instead of binoculars), and new pink lights for the ivy wall in the garage, because I ordered the wrong style of pink lights last week.

-I grade 4 extra credit essay assignments, post the grades, scan the essays, and email them to the students.

-I apply for the Docent Naturalist position at Placerita Canyon.  This is a 9-week program, scheduled for every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:00-12:00. Once I complete the program, I’m obligated to volunteer, leading tours and nature walks, twice a month. I’m pretty excited about it!

1:00-2:00 – I make a piece of gluten-free toast with cinnamon-almond butter and raspberry jam, then check email at College No. 2

2:00-2:30 – Admin at College No. 2 wants me to report my Flex hours for the semester. I’ve completed the requirements through College No. 1 which means I have to submit an External Training form under the Cornerstone software.  I’m not sure how to post external training through the Cornerstone software, so I watch a You Tube video to figure it out.

2:30-3:30 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. I listen to Boys Like Me.

3:30-4:30 – I pack my leftover avocado toast from yesterday and drive to the Santa Clarita Equestrian Center to see what it looks like. I listen to the podcast Boys Like Me while I’m driving. Return home.

4:30-6:00 – I collect the dog and we drive to the dog park, where she stays on the bench the entire time. As usual, she prefers to sit next to me on the bench and look down at the other dogs instead of engaging with them. It gets dark and everyone leaves except us. The dog and I walk around the dog park by ourselves, then we exit and do two loops around the actual park before getting in the car and driving home. I continue listening to Boys Like Me.

6:00-6:30 – L.  returns from work only to leave shortly thereafter to play Crimes Against Humanity at N.s house.

6:30-7:30 – I drive to Starbucks for a Peppermint Hot Chocolate and sit in the parking lot for a while. Then I get gas ($40). I listen to Invisibilia.

7:30-8:00 – I drive to Kohls so I can take advantage of the “Kohls Cash” deadline.

8:00-8:45 – I purchase more workout attire and end up earning an additional $30 Kohl’s cash. I listen to Organize 365

8:45-9:15 – Return home and unload the car.

9:15-10:00 –I read Boundaries.

10:00-10:45 – I do a 30-minute insanity Max – Tabata Power workout.

10:45-11:45 – Bullet journal.

11:45-12:30 – Shower.  Wash hair. I listen to Vox World.

12:30-1:45 – Braid hair and read Boundaries.

1:45-2:15 – More bullet journal.

2:15-2:45 – Nighttime routine. Bed.
