Day 11 - LA County moves into yellow tier

I worked on my Self-Eval all day…

I worked on my Self-Eval all day…

5/13/21. Thursday.

9:00-9:45 – Up and I talk to B. about current events for a few minutes.

9:45-10:30 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. Light make-up. Re-pack my overnight bag. Load my car.

10:30 – 1:00 - B. returns with Starbucks and chocolate donuts. We have breakfast outside, at his patio table, and talk politics.

1:00-1:30 – I leave.  My “3rd Semester Self-Evaluation at College No. 2 is due tomorrow and part of the 12-week evaluation process. I really need to start working on it.

1:30-2:30 – Home and I bring everything upstairs and unpack. I have leftover salmon for lunch and read a Money Diary.

2:30-3:30 – Exhausted again. I take a short nap.

3:30-11:00 – Time to start my Self-Evaluation using Review Snap software which, you guessed it, is NOT user friendly. I work straight through, with no breaks, and finish 7½ hours later. There are numerous sections that have to be answered in great detail, such as “What are my teaching objectives for the new semester?” [Answer: I don’t care]; “How do I encourage student success and retention?”[Answer: I try to get them to drop as soon as possible so their D/F semester grade doesn’t reflect on me];  “Document all professional activities you’ve completed since the date you were hired”[Answer: TWO years of activities?  What a pain in the ass!”]; and my personal favorite (sarcasm here) “Analyze the student survey results. Where can you improve?” There are more sections but I won’t bore you with the details. I can’t believe I just spent nearly 8 hours of my life working on this bulls—t project, although I have to say…NAILED IT!!!

I hit submit in Review Snap and my Self-Eval is automatically sent to my Dean. Then, I email my mentor – the Mexican male I referenced earlier – and send him my Self-Eval; the student survey results; and a copy of my Syllabus.  I’m officially done with this portion of my evaluation.  There is more to follow, but this stage is DONE…for now. I’m a day early!

11:00 – 11:30 – I email my D/F students – there are a total of 5, in three classes, at College No. 2 – and notify them that Friday is the last day to withdraw with a W.

11:30-12:00 – I check email at College No. 2. Administration sends me an email informing me that my book requisition for Fall 2021 is late.  I respond with a follow-up email – Nope, I submitted it two weeks ago.

-Another email from Administration, informing me that I have to submit my summer office hours on the attached form. I didn’t know that summer office hours are mandatory at College No. 2.  This is stupid - it’s unclear if I’ll even have the enrollment for my summer class – the class probably won’t run. I complete the form and submit it anyway.

I take the dog out and see the rat run along the top of the wall! I’m completely freaked out and text B. I enter the garage and I think it’s in there, but I’m so stressed that I might be seeing things that aren’t there. I text B. again.

12:00-12:45 – I read a Money Diary.

12:45-1:45 – I do an Insanity – Cardio Pylometric workout.

1:45-2:30 – Recover.  I have a glass of champagne and work on a blog post.

2:30-3:30 - Night time routine. Bed.
