Day 28 - Los Angeles lifts its vaccine mandate. A vax card is no longer required.

The ceiling is finally repaired…no more leaks…

A just-released CDC study of 200,000 Americans reveals that 3 out of 4 kids, in the United States, have been infected with Covid 19.  Additionally, 60% of all Americans in the study showed signs of previous infections.  Somehow, the scientists conducting the study were able to discern whether or not detected antibodies were vaccine or virus induced, which I find questionable. This led to the conclusion that 60% of all Americans have actually contracted Covid 19, as opposed to merely getting vaxed.  My own PCP was unable to tell me why I had a 250-antibody count after I got a blood draw in March…and yet somehow the scientists conducting this study were able to distinguish between antibodies from a Covid 19 infection versus antibodies from a vaccine??

But the larger question is…uh, so what?  What does this have to do with Omicron? Covid 19 was two years ago.  Who cares?

0-11 years of age had the highest rate of infection, followed by 12-17 years of age. And yet, there were no huge, recorded outbreaks at any of our schools throughout the country, which means that children…STUDENTS…are ASYMPTOMATIC.  Which also means that virtually every student is a ticking time bomb for teachers, whether or not they show symptoms. Omicron was sooo contagious that between the months of December (2021) and February (2022), the infection rate went from 40% to 75% in kids.  That’s 1/3 of kids getting infected in just a 2-month period. What about the infection rate for teachers?

At this point in the “pandemic”, kids have returned to school, unmasked.  What’s in store for them? What’s in store for teachers?  I’ll tell you what’s in store…

Enter BA2.12.1, the newest sub-variant.  Over the past month, BA2.12.1 has increased to 28% of the circulating strains and is 10% more transmissible than BA2, but remember…Omicron was 40% to 80% more transmissible than previous circulating strains…so using my math, BA2.12.1 is 100% transmissible.  In medical terminology, this means…we’re fucked.

I’m never subbing again…

4/27/22. Wednesday

6:15-My alarm goes off. The contractors are coming so I give myself 15 minutes of transition time and then I’m moving.

6:30-7:30-Up and I go downstairs to say good morning to the animal. She’s asleep on the couch, so I sit beside her and rub her tummy until the dog is ready to go outside. We head to the patio, and I survey my yard while she goes potty. Return inside and coffee for me, cheese for her.

I wash a glass and move one last appliance from the counter into the garage. I unload the dishwasher and light a scented candle because it smells like the whitefish I baked yesterday.

Upstairs and I sit in the shower, drink my coffee, and ice my eyes. I listen to Happier with Gretchen Rubin. Lotion. I dress in workout attire

7:30-8:00-The contractors arrive and I realize I forgot to remove L’s charcoal sketches from the top of the cabinets, which is exactly where the contractors will be working. I take photos of their placement, pull out my ladder, and remove all the sketches (25, to be exact). I’m so irritated at my oversight.

Remember the early Covid 19 days, when contractors/vendors masked when they entered your house? Well…those days are over.

8:00-8:30-The contractor starts repairing the ceiling. I go upstairs, read Curated Closet, finish my coffee, and have a piece of banana bread.

8:30-9:00-B. calls and says he will stop by for patio coffee after a 9:00 breakfast with his work friends.

-I put on makeup

9:00-10:00-bullet journal.

10:00-10:30-L.’s Dad arrives to finish installing L.’s sink and we have a brief conversation.

10:30-12:30-B. arrives and we sit outside at my table and have patio coffee.

10:45-The contractor is finished and he did a great job! The cost was $480. The repair is done - now all I need to do is paint it.

L.’s Dad joins us on the patio around 11:00. He needs yet another part for L.’s sink installation, along with tape and silicone.

12:30-B. Leaves.

12:30-1:30-L.’s Dad and I have a conversation and then he leaves for Home Depot.

1:30-2:30-L. surfaces and we discuss where we should go to brunch for Mother’s Day. We ultimately decide on Fia and she makes the reservation.

I heat up the white fish I baked yesterday, thaw a bag of frozen veges, and add a piece of my sourdough bread. Then, I bring the tray upstairs to my room and have lunch listening to True Crime Garage. I finish it off with the next flavor of Lara bar from the variety pack that I purchased - chocolate chip banana.

2:30-6:45-I take a nap but it’s really me going back to bed.

6:45-7:45-bullet journal

7:45-8:45-I’m experiencing issues with downloading podcasts to my Ipad and it takes an hour to fix. I listen to the Productive Woman while I work on this problem.

8:45-9:15-I take the dog for a walk.

9:15-11:00-Gardening. I sweep the patio and water all of my plants. I listen to a 2 1/2-hour Organize 365 podcast while I’m working on the yard.

-L. surfaces and starts working on an art project for Otis.

11:00-11:15-L. and I have a brief conversation; then

11:15-11:30-I post course content for my online class. I listen to Marketplace Morning and have one turkey meatball.

11:30-12:30-I do a 10-minute Insanity Max-Ab workout and a 30-minute Insanity Max - Sweat workout. I tap out the last 3 minutes.

12:30-1:30-Kitchen duty and I prepare my lunch bag and ready my coffee for tomorrow.

1:30-2:00 - Nighttime routine. Bed.
