Day 29 - Los Angeles lifts its vaccine mandate. A vax card is no longer needed.
4/28/22. Thursday
5:00-5:15-I’ve been setting my alarm later and later to experiment with drive times. I lie in bed for the next 20 minutes.
5:20-5:35-Downstiars and I tiptoe past the dog and heat up my coffee, but she jumps off the couch to say good morning. I know that she really just wants cheese. I unload the dishwasher while the coffee is in the microwave and then we go outside - the yard looks great after all the gardening I did yesterday. Return inside: cheese for her, coffee for me. I go upstairs.
5:35-6:10-I sit in the shower, drink my coffee, and ice my eyes while listening to The Daily. I wear a long sleeveless, blue and white, Asian-inspired, sleeveless silk top over black leggings and flats.
6:10-6:20- I put all of my bags in the car and I’m on the road by 6:20.
6:20-7:30-Traffic is light until I get to the 405. Then, it clogs horribly, en route to the airport, and past the Getty. I’m stressed I might be late so maybe it’s a mistake leaving this late - in the future, I’ll probably leave earlier. I put my makeup on in the car and listen to By the Book and Be Wealthy And Smart. I have sliced pears for breakfast and a piece of the chocolate candy L.’s Dad brought back from Hawaii.
7:30-7:45-Arrive at the school and I sit in the parking lot for the next 15 minutes. I need an extra activity for class today as my scheduled lecture and podcast do not cover the full 90 minutes. I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of days and, today, I come across the perfect podcast (from The Daily) that I can use to fill the time gap.
7:45-8:00-I sign in at the office and stand in front of the thermometer [“Temperature Normal!”]. I have a feeling the thermometer is broken. It ALWAYS says “Temperature Normal!” Surely I run hot once in awhile?
8:00-9:30 - Class is in session. I move through lecture fairly quickly in anticipation of playing the podcast that I decided upon during my Eureka moment in the car, but when I try to play the podcast, it’s blocked! College No. 2 has a firewall and The Daily is banned at this school. This is a true blow. I have the students listen to the podcast on their phones but I’m extremely irritated.
8:45-9:30-Once the podcast is over, I play another podcast/documentary about BLM without incident and then I post the podcast quiz.
9:30-9:45-Class dismissed. I drop off the Attendance and walk to my car.
9:45-11:00-Driving. Traffic is horrible. I listen to What Next and eat fish and mixed vegetables and cheese on the way home, followed by another chocolate candy from Hawaii.
11:00-12:00-I bring all my bags in, unpack everything, ready my coffee for tomorrow, and prepare a lunch bag.
12:00-2:00-I take a nap.
2:00-3:00-I wash my hair in the bathtub, then blow it out and freshen my make-up. I change into my Striders walking uniform, which is basically yoga pants and a tank top, because I’m hopeful I’ll make my Striders walking group at 6:30. I listen to the Political Gabfest.
3:30-4:30-I drive to the Encino Medi Spa for my 5:15 Juviderm appointment which means I’m back in traffic...again. I listen to Marketplace Money.
4:30-5:15-I’m early so I park in a residential neighborhood and work on my bullet journal. Then, I drive to the parking garage.
5:15-5:45-At my filler appointment and the staff are masking, although the patients don’t have to. As an aside, B. says that nobody masks at his doctor’s office. Abel, the RN, puts a ton of numbing cream on my face in preparation for the injections. I’m dismayed to learn that this Med Spa no longer uses Juviderm anymore…instead, it’s a new product called RHA. Abel injects my face and it hurts. This entire process is very traumatic for me but the fillers are a much better improvement over my normal face.
5:45-7:00-Traffic is absolutely horrible and I’m stuck in the rush hour soup. I don’t make my Striders group.
7:00-9:00-Home and I’m traumatized and scared that I’m going to have an allergic reaction to this new product. My face and lips are bruised. I take another nap.
9:00-9:30-L. surfaces and asks if I want to watch Bad Vegan. We talk about her upcoming art projects for awhile then set up the documentary.
10:00-12:00-L. and I watch the rest of Bad Vegan.
12:00-12:30-I ready my bike bag and set out my clothes for tomorow.
12:30-1:15-Nighttime routine. Bed.
