Day 31 - Governor Newsom reinstates the mask mandate in California

I finished this series…everyone looks sooo old…

A few days ago, Dr. Kimberly Shriner, Director of Infectious Disease and Prevention for the Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, commented that ALL patients are tested for Covid, no matter the reason for their arrival. Dr. Shriner goes onto say that any patient who tests positive is immediately admitted and quarantined in the special “Covid” section of the hospital despite the fact that the primary reason the patient reported to the hospital might involve a broken bone, concussion, accident, or other basic injury or illness.

How stupid!  Why would you admit EVERY patient to the hospital just because they test positive for Omicron, especially if they’re asymptomatic? Treat the injury and send. them. home! Even the CDC advises people NOT to go to the hospital unless you’re having difficulty breathing or your lips are blue – these are the main reasons for showing up.

Dr. Shriner adds that many patients are shocked to discover that they have Omicron upon being tested.  More than likely, the Omicron patient is “shocked” to discover he is now being admitted to the hospital for a 5-day stint when he/she arrived simply to get a finger stitched.  Imagine the cost for regular Americans…most of us have crappy insurance and have to pay significant out-of-pocket costs. Is immediate admission upon a positive Covid test the “gold standard” for hospitals across the country?  Is this why hospital admissions are currently on the rise?  If yes, no wonder hospitals are overwhelmed! This may be the dumbest policy I’ve heard yet…

 1/15/22. Saturday

8:00 – L. leaves for work.

10:00-12:00 – I’m up but I lie in bed for some time. At around 10:30, I go downstairs to say good morning to the dog, but she’s already awake and running around with her ball. We go outside straight away and I survey my yard while I wait for the dog to do her business. Return inside: turkey for her and coffee for me, and I have one of the donuts that B. brought over couple days ago.

I unload and load the dishwasher, sweep the downstairs, and fill the dog food and dish soap dispensers.

12:00-12:30 – I have a phone conversation with my ex-husband about a New England cruise we’re taking in October. He’s the recipient of several free cruises as a result of his excessive Vegas gambling and is allowed to invite guests. I don’t have to pay anything.

12:30-1:30 – I upload and edit several blog posts.

1:30-2:00 – I make a poached egg on toast; and

2:00-4:00 – watch a few episodes of And Just Like That. I’m tired and I don’t feel like doing anything today. Long Covid??

4:00-4:30 – I wash my face, brush my teeth and hair, and get dressed in my Covid-19 uniform.

4:30-5:15 – I take the dog for a walk.

5:30-6:15 – I do a 30-minute, Insanity Max – Tabata workout.

6:30-8:30 – I watch more episodes of And Just Like That

8:30-10:00 – Blog post

10:00-11:00 – Bullet journal.

11:00-12:00 – Kitchen duty and I eat some Sugarfina candy.  I also eat a few pita chips and swiss cheese. I prepare overnight oats and ready my coffee, pack my lunch bag, and pick out my clothes for tomorrow.

12:00-1:30 – I finish out the season of And Just Like That

1:30-2:00 – Nighttime routine. Bed. I wake up, coughing, throughout the night.
