Day 32 - Governor Newsom reinstates the mask mandate in California

B. and I hiked The Canyon Trail at Placerita Canyon today…

A question currently plaguing me is, “Did I have Omicron?”  If yes, I have stronger, natural immunity for a 90-day period and I don’t want a booster to interfere with that immunity.  HOWEVER, if I did NOT have Omicron, I need a booster immediately, especially since I’m scheduled to teach F2F in a high school classroom in February. A couple days ago, I read that anyone who has been sick over the past weeks should just assume that they had Omicron…I’m not sure…

1/16/22. Sunday

-L. leaves for work.

7:30-8:00 – I wake up with a stuffy nose, congested, and coughing. I also have terrible cramps.  I take two Advil and wait for the Advil to take effect.

8:00-8:30 – I drag myself out of bed and go downstairs to say good morning to the animal. She pooped next to the front door (sigh). I sit on the couch, beside the dog, and rub her tummy until she grabs her toy and we go outside. I wait for her to go potty and then we return inside: coffee for me, turkey for her.

8:30-9:00 – I take my coffee and a bag of ice upstairs and return to bed, while I wait for the coffee to kick in.

9:30-11:00 – I sit in the shower, lean my head back against the tiles, and ice my eyes while I drink my coffee. Lotion. Hiking uniform. Light make-up.

11:00 – 2:00 – B. arrives and we drive to Placerita Canyon where we hike the Canyon Loop,  recommended by one of my bird watching friends. A large portion of this hike takes place beside a creek that is usually dry but, in light, of the recent rains, it’s running.  It’s not deep at all, but still pretty exciting to see water in it! We also encounter people on horseback along the way. B. and I have to “jump the creek” in 8 separate areas, round trip.  Make no mistake…we’re not jumping over “rapids” – this is little more than a trickle.  Still, I watch a 20-something-year-old try to hop it and fall in at the bank of the creek while her boyfriend filmed everything. It was so embarrassing.

B. and I arrive at the picnic area and it’s filled with birds, just like Steve, my bird-watching friend, said. I feel very tired and fatigued (Long Covid??) and we still have to hike back, although it’s a mild hike.

2:00-3:30 – Return to the parking lot and B. calls in fish tacos at the Newhall Refinery.  We pick them up and drive to my house to retrieve my Trader Joes OJ, because there is no better OJ than Trader Joes. Then, we return to B.s house for brunch and mimosas and watch The Servant.  B. asks me if I’m feeling better and I casually say I think I have “Long Covid...”

3:30-8:30 – We return to watching several episodes of The Servant.

8:30-9:00 – B. drives me home.

9:00-11:00 – Blog posts and I listen to Air Talk.

11:00-12:00 – Kitchen duty and I ready my coffee.

12:00-12:45 – bullet journal.

12:45-1:30 – Nighttime routine. Bed.
