9-3-22-Saturday

6:00-7:00-I’m up and I feel ROUGH. The alarm wakes the dog up and then she wakes me up, so we go downstairs straightaway. I take her outside to go potty. Cheese for her; coffee and ice for me. Return upstairs and I lie down again and put a bag of plastic ice cubes on my eyes for a few minutes.

Shower. I sit in the shower, continue icing my eyes, and drink my coffee. Lotion. It’s going to be a hot one today so I wear Athletic Housewife attire: biking shorts and a T-back tank top.

7:30-9:15-I drive to Lotusland in Santa Barbara.

9:15-11:30-Lotusland is beautiful. In case you didn’t know, Lotusland is actually called Ganna Walska Lotusland. Ganna Walska was born “Hanna Puacz”, in 1887, in Brest-Litovsk, Poland, to a family of landowners...ergo, she’s rich. Her uncle sent her to Russia to study music and Hanna changed her name just before she embarked on a music career that spanned the decades, probably because nobody would have bought tickets to see a Polish girl named Hanna perform: “Ganna” is the Ukrainian version of “Hanna” and Walska represents her favorite dance, the Waltz. Hanna-Ganna was very successful, performing in New York, Paris, and numerous concert tours in America and Europe.

In 1941, she “hung it up”, came to California with Husband #6, and purchased a 37-acre property that she called Tibetland, where she hoped to create a monastery, complete with monks, where she would also reside. The monks never made it, however, and then “her husband sued her for divorce - she prevailed.” What the hell does that quote mean? I don’t know.

After the divorce, Hanna-Ganna renamed the estate Lotusland and spent the next 43 years helping it evolve, going so far as to auction her jewelry to keep it going. She died at home, in 1984, and left Lotusland to…herself…the Ganna Walska Lotusland Foundation.

Lotusland is gorgeous. If it wasn’t sooo hot and humid, it’d be even more incredible. I love it here but I’m too exhausted to sufficiently enjoy it. Why do I keep sabotaging my sleep and myself like this?

Here’s a link to Lotusland for the show notes. Please click on it…any description by me will not do this place justice.

11:30-1:15-I leave, but stop nearby to get gas.

1:15-1:30-Return home and I bring my bags inside and put everything away.

1:30-2:00-I pull down my suitcase and start packing.

2:00-4:00-I take a nap; then

4:00-5:00-water my plants; and

5:00-5:20-check personal email.

5:25-5:35-I also check headlines; and

5:30-6:30-the Placerita Canyon Calendar of Events, as well as the Concerts in the Park series through Santa Clarita.. I research and order another pair of pants from Nordstrom Rack.

7:20-7:30-I check the Zanku Chicken menu and place an order for take-out so B. and I will have lunch for tomorrow.

7:30-8:00-I arrive at Zanku to pick up my order, but it takes awhile for them to find it because it’s under the name “Alan.” It’s extremely expensive…I pay $50 for two meals!

8:00-8:30-I take the dog for a walk.

8:30-9:30- I go upstairs to resume packing and find that my bathroom is overrun with strange flying insects! It’s horrible!. I spend this hour trying to contain the outbreak and spraying Windex all over the place.

9:30-??? - *I have no idea what I did the rest of the evening. Probably spent it packing and getting ready for bed. I forgot to log the time I finally went to sleep.
