Day 33-Monkey pox is the new pandemic
9/5/22. Monday
9:00-10:00 - I didn’t take notes for this day so this post is a re-creation to the best of my abilities. I take a shower. Lotion. Full make-up. Hello world! (whatever).
10:00-11:30-B and I go to the onsite Rockwood Grill for their breakfast buffet. For the most part, I don’t like buffets - but B. does, of course, so he can get his money’s worth when it comes to paying for food. I can’t recall what I ordered, but do remember that I had no complaints.
11:30-3:00 - Back to the master pool and this place has now become a ghost town, thank God. It’s hot but today the heat is a wee bit more tolerable - also there’s a poolside bar, so we get a couple rounds of drinks as the day unfolds. I spend this time catching some sun and reading…I love it. It’s still incredibly hot, though.
3:00-4:00 - It’s hard to describe but to the left of the lobby is an enclosed, indoor boat dock, where miniature boats are anchored (I posted pictures at the top of the blog). For a small fee, a staff member will take guests on a water-way tour that begins inside the hotel, and fans out, passing between the two 18-hole golf courses that Desert Springs is known for. B. and I decide to ride the boat. It’s about a 30-minute jaunt and very cool - interesting amenity.
4:00-6:00 - We’re approaching the dinner hour and B. and I are adamant that we’re going to dine at the Mikado Japanese Steakhouse, having missed it yesterday. This time, we know right where it’s located and also when it closes (8:30). We meander to Mikado only to discover that it’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Somehow, for whatever reason, we end up at Aquifier 65 again, i.e., the bar. It’s Monday and all the guests are long gone - almost nobody is left in the hotel. I can’t recall what I ordered, but the food is good.
6:00-8:00 - After being in extreme heat like this, I feel incredibly depleted, physically. Back to our hotel room and I watch Forensic Files for awhile. Nighttime routine. Bed. We’re checking out tomorrow. All in all, I liked the resort, but this is the wrong month to make a reservation at Desert Springs. I don’t think I’ve ever felt heat this oppressive before…
