Day 38-Los Angeles lifts its vaccine mandate. A vax card is no longer needed.
5/7/22. Saturday
6:00-9:30-I sleep for the next three hours and wake up, again, with a splitting headache. Another two Advil…
9:45-10:00- Downstairs and I feel like I’m moving through quicksand. What is happening to me? Instead of just my arm being sore, my entire body aches…even my teeth hurt! What kind of shit are they pumping into our bodies? If it’s any consolation (at least, to me), there is no way I could have gone birdwatching. I’m not using the the Moderna booster as an excuse - I can barely move.
I take the dog outside and wait for her to go potty. Cheese for her; coffee for me. Am I moving in slow motion because of yesterday’s hike? It was a moderate hike, though...
10:00-11:00-bullet journal
-L. leaves to pick up her private student for her art lesson.
11:00-11:15-Downstairs and I grab a donut and bring it upstairs for breakfast.
11:15-12:45-more bullet journal and I listen to The New York Time Book Review.
12:45-L.’s art lesson is over and she leaves to take her private home. I text L. and ask her to buy me a coffee. I really cannot get out of bed.
12:45-1:30-more bullet journal. My energy is so low, this is the only task I can do.
1:30-1:45-L. arrives with my coffee and discusses her art student’s progress with me. I stagger out of bed and downstairs to the studio so I can see what her art student is working on.
L. leaves for work at The Club.
2:00-3:00-I finish updating my bullet journal.
3:00-3:10- I warm up my coffee and eat a few potato chips.
3:00-5:00-I can. not. get. out. of. bed. I feel like I’ve been runover by a train. Listening to PBS segments, Marketplace Money, and NPR Politics.
5:00-6:00-It takes heroic effort, but I stagger into the shower and sit down while the water’s running, and listen to Air Talk. I feel absolutely horrible. Lotion. I put on workout clothes.
6:00-6:15-I take notes on the films discussed during Film Week.
6:15-6:45-I do a 10-min, Insanity Max-Ab workout, but L. surfaces right when I get started. Apparently, there’s an memorial service at The Club and nobody bothered to tell L. She’s wearing her front desk uniform, with leggings, instead of a decent memorial dress so she ran home to change. Several staff members called out sick because they didn’t want to deal with all the guests coming in for the service so L. is largely on her own.
L. leaves for The Club. I finish the Ab workout, but feel like vomiting.
6:45-7:00- I eat a few walnuts and cheese.
7:00-7:30-I feel flushed and have to lie down. More Advil. I listen to Organize 365 and Marketplace Money.
7:30-8:15-I do a 30-min Insanity Max - Cardio workout and when I’m just under the 30-minute mark [at 26 minutes] I almost shit myself. Moderna booster? I make it to the bathroom just in time with severe diarrhea...BUT, I feel better after shitting out the toxin.
8:15-9:15-I take the dog for a walk and continue to improve.
9:15-10:00-I have leftover ravioli and listen to a podcast.
10:00-10:30-Kitchen duty and I ready my coffee for tomorrow.
10:30-4:00-I go to work.
Life Administration
-I go through my personal emails, one by one, and delete around 1200 while multi-tasking:
-Liberty Mutual is charging me an extra $243 for L’s insurance as a result of her new car purchase. I forward the bill to L.
-Sulphur Springs School District is guaranteeing me return rights, as a sub, if I sign and return the form. I’m never subbing again.
-I make a credit card payment.
-There is so much drama going on with CalSTRS and my future retirement. I go to the CalSTRS website and do a shit-ton of research. In order to start the ‘conversion’ process, all of my current and previous school employers need to sign off that A) I’m no longer enrolled in the “Cash Balance” program; because B) I’ve been enrolled in “Defined Benefit.” Getting the school districts and my two community colleges to complete these forms is going to be like herding cats.
-I sign up for a Cash Balance webinar on Tuesday.
-I respond to approximately 30 emails from B. over the past 2 months.
-B emailed me the Mt Rushmore itinerary so I print it out.
-I log my books read for March.
Work Admin
-I switch to my online class and create a Module Home Page for the next week of classes.
-I send an email blast to the students, reminding them which assignments are due for next week.
-I post the same announcement to the Home Page, in Canvas.
-I build out the Module Home Page and make sure all the assignments are in order for the following week as I’ll be in South Dakota.
-I switch to my high school class and create a Module Home Page for next week.
Same thing. I build out the Module Home Page for my highschoolers the following week as I’ll be returning Monday night and want to make sure everything is ready for my Tuesday morning class.
-At midnight, L. surfaces and does a splice-and-dice on the Chapter 15 Audio Lecture. She also updates a Google slide.
-I load the new Chapter 15 lecture into both Canvas shells
4:00-4:45-Nighttime routine. Bed. Feeling much better.
