Day 39 - LA County enters yellow tier
Finished painting the garage today…
6/10/21. Thursday
9:00 – 9:30 – Although this sounds like I’m doing a copy-and-paste from yesterday, B. might have secured a contractor to stain my garage floor and it’s possible they are coming over this morning. I’m up early so I can check my phone just in case. B. has texted me to call him. When we talk, he says the roofers are there for his patio, but it is unclear if he will see the garage contractor today [B. is also repairing his garage floor]. At present, he can’t leave his house since he is having work done on his patio. Makes sense – most vendors are so unreliable and you never know when they’re coming. Today is probably a no-go, although an afternoon bid may occur…
9:30-10:00 – I go downstairs to greet the animal. She’s still asleep, so I rub her tummy three times to wake her up. She pooped near the door to the back yard – why didn’t she walk a few extra steps and go outside? I clean it up, she grabs her toy, and we go outside. The dog runs around the yard and then finally goes potty. Return inside and coffee for me, pepper-jack cheese for her. I go upstairs. I weigh 99.5 pounds today.
10:00-12:00-Blog posts.
12:00-1:00 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. Light make-up. I listen to Today Explained.
1:00-2:30 – I make a huge spinach salad with tomatoes, zucchini, pepper-jack cheese, feta cheese, olive oil and sea salt. Then, I sit outside, eat my lunch, and read Women’s Work.
2:30-3:00 – I pull down my suitcase and when items I think I might need for the beach trip come to mind, I put them in the suitcase.
-L. leaves for work.
3:00-3:30 – I take the dog for a walk and listen to Slates Political Gabfest.
4:00-6:30 – The only remaining section left to paint in the garage is the area above the garage door. I do paint prep and cut in. Unfortunately, the garage door has to be closed when I’m doing this section – otherwise I can’t access it – so the only air flow is coming from the side door, which I’ve propped open. I’m gloved and double-masked, but I can still smell the paint fumes. I’ve also noticed a hint of vertigo when I’m near the top rungs of the ladder – this is a new development. I listen to Fresh Air and This is Uncomfortable.
6:30-8:00 – I make a quinoa/brown rice salad, to include cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, parsley, zucchini, and lemon juice for dinner. The brown rice is NOT instant so it takes 45 minutes to prepare. I boil some eggs while I make dinner and listen to To Live and Die in LA and On Our Watch. I eat a few bites while I’m cooking – it’s not bad.
L. returns from work.
8:00-9:00 – It looks like a bomb went off in the kitchen so I do all the dishes, clean out the refrigerator, and hose down the place mats we use inside of our trays. I listen to By The Book again – I was a little distracted last night and missed parts of it.
9:00-10:30 – Back in the garage and I cut in again, with the second coat of paint, then roll the entire area. The main section also needs a second coat so I wait a few minutes for that section to dry before I start with the second. I listen to Fresh Air and The Turning. The dog, who has access to the entire house and backyard, chooses to lie on the hard cement garage floor, next to me, for the entire time that I’m working. #Loyalty
The second coat is done and I’m officially done painting the garage…except I missed a spot near one of the outlets, so I fix it.
Now, I’m finished. What a bitch that project turned out to be! I put away/dispose of my paint supplies. The garage is officially cleared and painted.
10:30-11:00 – I vacuum my bedroom, then do a Kathy Smith Ab workout.
11:00-12:00 – I do a 1-hr Insanity Max – Pylo Workout. Same thing as yesterday – my reps are too slow and I have to take breaks throughout. But I get back in it.
12:00-12:30 –Recover. I have a glass of champagne and read Women’s Work.
12:30-2:30 - L. and I watch the Bikram-Hot Yoga documentary. Highly recommend. Bikram’s a pig and a rapist.
2:30 – 4:00 – I post to my blog then log a few more expenditures for my monthly budget project.
4:00 – 4:45 – Night time routine. Bed. A little too late going to bed – between 3:00-and 4:00 should be my cut-off, if possible.
