Similar to L.’s 2-bean salad recipe…

7/22/21. Thursday

8:30 – 9:00 - I’m up, but I need transition time so I lie in bed until 9:00.

9:00-9:30 – I go downstairs to say good morning to the dog, but she’s already awake.  I heard her barking earlier…at what, I don’t know.  She rolls over on her back, on the floor, so I can rub her tummy. I do the obligatory three times and we go outside.  I note that she pooped on the patio so I clean it up. Return inside: cheese for her, coffee for me. I’m at 99.5 pounds today.

I report to my office and publish the course content for today. Then, I answer some emails.

9:30-10:45 – I go upstairs and work on blog posts.

L. leaves to run some errands.

10:45-11:30 – L. returns from the store and asks for ‘all hands on deck’.  Apparently, L. bought the ingredients to make a 2-bean salad, with cabbage and brown rice, complete with a cashew-pesto dressing, but she needs my assistance to make the dish before she reports to work.  When I clarify her start time, she says she has to be at work at 11:30. Uh, we’re never going to make it, but I don’t say anything. L. asks me to chop the cabbage and green onions, while she gets started on the dressing.

At 11:20, L. gives me last minute instructions for finishing the recipe, says Sorry, Mom, and leaves me standing in the middle of a huge mess, several food items in various stages of prep, covering every square inch of counter space. Have as much as you want. Bye!, L. says.

11:30-1:00 – I make the brown rice and finish chopping the green onions and cilantro.  I go around the kitchen to the various food stations and collect the items so I can mix everything together in one bowl, per L.’s instructions. Then, I store it in the fridge.

Kitchen duty. Everything is in such disarray, I barely know where to begin.

1:00-2:00 – The kitchen is back to normal so I serve up the salad – sans sauce – and have it for lunch. It’s very good! L. will be pleased when she returns at 7:00. I read Formation.

2:00-4:00 – Blog posts

4:00-5:00 – Shower. Lotion. Covid-19 uniform. I listen to The Political Gabfest.

5:00-5:30 – I read a Money Diary, then do a 15-minute Insanity Cardio Ab workout.

5:30-6:00 – Recover. I read more of Formation.

6:00-7:00 – I scrub some stains out of the carpet on the stairwell, change a light bulb, and start a load of laundry.

7:00 – 7:30 - L. returns home and we talk about her day. She has some of the salad with the cashew-pesto dressing and pronounces the meal “Great!” I mentioned earlier in the week that tomorrow is 'my ‘errand day’ so I meal plan and add a grocery list to my To-Do list, then figure out the quickest route for my errands tomorrow.

8:30-9:00 – I take the dog for a walk.

9:00-10:30 – I sweep the patio, trim dead leaves, and water my plants. I listen to True Crime Garage.

L. leaves to hang out with J. and N.  J. has one more night left before she returns to France for her International Relations college program. They go for boba.

10:30 – 11:00 - Kitchen duty.  I cleaned the kitchen earlier today, so I unload the dishwasher, ready my coffee for tomorrow, and prepare snacks for my lunch bag. I listen to Marketplace.

11:30-1:00 - I read a Money Diary, then do a 40-minute Insanity Plyometric workout.  I find that the 40-minute workouts are more manageable than the 1-hr workouts.

L. returns home and we talk about her day.

1:00-3:00 – I spend the next 2 hours working on my “I-pad re-curating” project.  Yes, remember that project? I have to be up early tomorrow so this was a big mistake.  Why do I insist on purposely sabotaging myself? I find a You-Tuber that I cited a couple years ago that I never bothered to revisit and watch her now while I’m re-curating - I like it! It’s called Try Living with Lucie and consists of Lucie trying out a new concept or idea for 5 days. It’s similar to By the Book.

3:00-4:00 – Nighttime routine. Bed.
