Day 37-BA2.12.1 is the current variant
6/20/22. Monday
4:30-L. leaves for her shift at The Club.
8:30-8:45-It’s already hot in the house. Two days ago (6/18/22), I called, left a message, and emailed A/C Clinic, that my air conditioner had stopped working (again). I never received a response. I then called First American and spoke with “Romel.” I reported that A/C Clinic had failed to fix my air conditioner and that it still doesn’t work. And…nothing.
-I go downstairs to say good morning to the animal. There is poop next to the front door (sigh). The dog is asleep on the couch so I sit next to her and rub her tummy until she wakes up. The dog is miserable because of the heat…all of us are miserable. I cue her to go outside - she grabs her toy and we head to the backyard. I survey my plants, she goes potty, and we return inside. Coffee for me, cheese for her. I go upstairs.
9:00-10:00- Bullet journal
10:00-12:00-I continue to “pare down, scale down” my closet in accordance with the currated closet project.
- A/C Clinic calls me. He says he will be at my house on 6/22/22.
12:00-1:00-Shower. I sit in the shower and ice my eyes while listening to The Daily. Lotion. I put on Athletic Housewife attire; then
1:00-2:00-I drive to Nordstrom Rack to return a few items. I have to stand in the Return line for quite some time. it’s super long, but at least the store has air conditioning.
2:15-6:30-Return home and I spend this time moving course content from the Canvas shell for my Ethnic and Racial Politics course at College No. 1, to my home computer. I designed this course in 2019, but it resides solely within the Canvas platform. If the “shell” were to disappear, so would my content and I would have no access to it. I’ve had this disquieting feeling of late that I need to shift the content to my home computer ASAP, although I can’t explain why.
During Spring Semester 2020, not enough students enrolled in the course and it was canceled…then College No. 1 simply removed it from the roster, without any discussion with me, for the next two years. We have only two tenured instructors in our department and prior to me, Dr. B [white female] taught it for years. Then she retired and I agreed to take on the class, teaching it from 2018-2019 and then…nothing.
-I work on moving video and chapter quizzes from the Canvas shell onto my computer during this block of time.
Spoiler Alert: In December 2022, I will check the Schedule of Classes for College No. 1 and see that the course was given to one of our male Adjunct instructors even though it is known throughout my department that this is MY class and I’ve been the ONLY adjunct to teach it since Dr. B retired. I was never consulted.
6:30-7:30-I leave to scout out tomorrow’s hiking location [Pine Street in Newhall]; then
7:30-8:00-I drive to Michaels.
8:00-8:30-At Michaels, and I purchase colored dots so I can label the pots of my plants accordingly for L.’s boyfriend, T. This way, he will know which plants to water and how often when L. and are away, in Italy/Greece.
8:30-9:30-I drive to Marshalls, try on multiple items, and purchase four pairs of leggings in accordance with my curated closet project.
9:30-10:00-I get gas. It’s holding firm at $6.25 a gallon.
10:00-11:00-Home and I sit in the kitchen and talk to L. and N., my surrogate son. N. says he “got hate-crimed at Chipolte” and relays an incident that happened an hour ago to he and L. They give me their leftover chips and cheese.
11:00-12:00-I go outside and water my plants.
12:00-1:00-Kitchen duty and I pack my lunch bag for tomorrow.
1:00-2:00 - Nighttime routine. Bed. It is so hot in the house…
